On Regret

9 Sep

regretsNo one ever said, “I regret not working more.” So do what you love.

If you’re a receptionist, a waiter, a cashier, a cook, a bar back, a janitor, a trash collector or a housewife – whatever you do – be the best! Believe it or not, you make a difference.

Learn from your mistakes – and try again.

If you want to dance – dance! If you want to sing – sing! If you want to paint – paint!

What would you do if you weren’t afraid? Travel, cook, write and learn. Always be learning!

Ask that guy/gal out. Give someone flowers. Hug your pet, your kids, your spouse or your parents. Don’t waste your time on those who don’t return your affections.

Say “hello” or “good morning.” Say “I love you” or “I miss you.”

Always say, “Please” and “Thank you.”

If you see a problem, be part of the solution. Don’t be a burden to others.

Go swimming naked. Go to brunch. Enjoy a cigar and martini.

Take a walk.

Live life – it’s amazing!

And, of course, my obligatory TED Talks video on the subject: http://www.ted.com/talks/kathryn_schulz_don_t_regret_regret?language=en
